The San Diego Model Railroad Club many years ago offered a paper pass to guests of the layouts in the House of Charm. The pass was on heavy paper stock and included a map on the back. The club is now proud to offer a Rail E-Pass to visitors of our website. Please click on the Request E-Pass button below and fill in the request form. As a special incentive to e-pass holders, the San Diego Model Railroad Club offers a behind-the-scenes layout tour (at the discretion of the member-in-charge) during normal operation with paid admission to the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. Some days staffing on the layout is limited and we apologize if we are unable to spend time with our visitors.

Historical note: The prototype pass shown in the header of this page was issued from one obscure short line (the San Diego & Arizona) to the superintendent of another (the Magma Arizona Railroad). Ironically, both railroads were recently dormant, the SD&AE shutting down operations in 1984 and the MARR just recently (sometime around 1997). In 2005, the SD&AE trackage was reactivated under ownership of the Carrizo Gorge Railway, and revenue traffic again winds it's way from San Diego through Mexico to El Centro. Only time will tell if the Magma Arizona Railroad will ever resume revenue service.
